TFT Enchanted Wilds How to Play Riftbeast

Jungle monsters, one Alpha, and a two-slot dragon.

Riftbeast Guide

Riftbeast is the Enchanted Wilds origin that puts Summoner’s Rift camps on your board. You mark one beast as Alpha, flood later shops with more beasts, grow in combat, and — if the lobby lets you — add two team slots at 10. It is an engine, not a screenshot. The mark you pick on Stage 2 decides whether the line is a tank, a splitter, or a legendary dragon.

Use this with the comp tier list for Sentinel and Krug boards, and with positioning because Elder Dragon occupies two hexes. Patch 18.1 live tooltips grant +2 maximum team size at Riftbeast 10. Older July previews showed +1. Trust the client.

The ten beasts

CostChampionTypical job
1CinderlingEarly Hunter opener
1PebblesInvoker splash
2MurkwolfRavager damage
2GrompAdaptor holder
2ScuttlecrabJuggernaut utility Alpha
3Mama BeakSummoner / Rapidfire, Armor Sunder Alpha
3KrugBrawler splitter, 3-star carry
4BramblebackRavager 4-cost
4SentinelVanguard / Invoker tank
5Elder DragonTwo-slot Apex Predator, +2 Riftbeast

You will not field all ten. A 3-piece opener plus one 4-cost is a real game. Elder Dragon is a capstone that also counts as two Riftbeast, which is why Fast 8 Sentinel boards suddenly look finished when the dragon appears.

Alpha Mark is a choice, not a habit

At 3 Riftbeast you place the Alpha Mark. Riot’s examples include utility beasts, not only the highest damage unit. Marking Scuttlecrab or Mama Beak can win Stage 3 while a marked 1-star Cinderling does nothing. Marking Krug makes sense when you are already rolling him. Marking Elder Dragon later adds an execute when it damages an enemy below 12% Health in patch 18.1.

Scout other Alphas. If two players already marked Krug, you are not a Krug player. The ranked climb guide is this same contest rule with LP attached.

Breakpoints

  • 3: unlock the Alpha Mark. Play this as soon as you have three beasts and a plan for the mark.
  • 5: every few combats, the next shop overruns with Riftbeasts. This is how you find Krug, Sentinel, and Brambleback without bleeding 50 gold.
  • 7: beasts grow at combat start and every five seconds. Late fights snowball. This is the default destination.
  • 10: +2 maximum team size on the live 18.1 patch. Only go here when 7 is already winning and Elder Dragon plus another legendary still fit.

Stop at 5 if the overrun already handed you a 2-star 4-cost and the rest of the board needs a class pair from the trait list. Stop at 7 if 10 would sell your only 2-star tank.

Two patch 18.1 lines

Sentinel Fast 8. Play three beasts early, mark the unit that actually helps the next fight, hit 8, 2-star Sentinel. Itemize the tank with Gargoyle, Spark, or Warmog from the item recipes. Cap with Elder Dragon if you have two free slots. Splash Invoker if Pebbles or Morgana are open.

Krug roll 7. When Krug copies are open, slow-roll at 7 for a 3-star splitter. Alpha Mark belongs on Krug once he is the carry. A 3-star unmarked Krug is worse than a marked Sentinel. Do not play this into two other Krug players.

Both lines still buy Wisps on the Wisp rules. Combat orbs keep a beast board alive through Stage 4. Risky orbs are for winning streaks, not for a 1-star frontline.

Elder Dragon is not a splash

Apex Predator uses two team slots and gives +2 Riftbeast. That is a bargain on a 7-beast board and a brick on 6 Defender. Leave two adjacent hexes. Do not sell your 2-star Sentinel to squeeze the dragon onto a full 8. If you need a one-slot legendary instead, Maokai or Taric from the legendaries guide will tank without rewriting team size.

Carousel: take the open 4-cost beast or the component that finishes the tank item. Taking a random rod because you might hit Ahri later is how beast players donate LP.

Mistakes that 8th

Marking the same unit every game. Forcing 10 beasts in a three-player contest. Buying Elder Dragon with no empty hexes. Itemizing Gromp as an Adaptor carry when the board is actually a Sentinel tank line. Ignoring Stage 5 Combat Wisps because “the trait grows anyway.” Growth does not replace a lost fight at 12 Health.

If beasts are contested, leave. Invoker Ahri and Sprykin Veigar on the comp list exist so you have somewhere else to go.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.

Does Riftbeast 10 give +1 or +2 team size?

Patch 18.1 live is +2. July previews showed +1. Check the in-game trait tooltip if a later patch moves it.

Who should get the Alpha Mark?

Whoever wins the next fight. Utility beasts early, Krug or Sentinel when they are the carry, Elder Dragon when you cap.

Is Elder Dragon required?

No. It is the strongest capstone on uncontested beast boards and a two-slot trap everywhere else.

Krug reroll or Fast 8 Sentinel?

Krug when copies are open and you can sit at 50 gold. Sentinel when you hit 8 first. See reroll vs Fast 8.
