TFT Enchanted Wilds How to Play Adaptor

Adaptor is the Enchanted Wilds class that changes a champion’s ability based on whether Attack Damage or Ability Power is higher, then amps the winning stat. It is why Nidalee is a javelin or a cougar, why Yi is a reroll star with Artifacts, and why mixed items make the trait look broken in the wrong direction.

The September 1 hotfix matters here: using an Item Remover on a starred Adaptor no longer snaps them to 1-star scaling, and some Adaptor units no longer revert to the other form’s mana. If Yi felt cursed last week, check whether you were hitting that bug. Notes: patch 18.1.

Who is Adaptor

Akali, Gromp, Kog’Maw, Master Yi, Nidalee.

Breakpoints are 2 / 3 / 4. Hitting 2 is mandatory if Yi or Nidalee is the carry. Hitting 4 is optional.

Master Yi after August 31

Riot cut Yi’s resists because he was a reroll powerhouse with Artifacts. Large placement samples still sit near 4.22 at roll 7. Academy lists him A (new). He is not free, and he is not dead. Roll at 7 for 3-star. Itemize one direction: Guinsoo’s / Edge of Night / IE for AD, or AP if that is what the carousel actually gave you. Do not mix. The comp list still has him as an open line.

Artifact holders: see artifacts. Fishbones and Silvermere Dawn change range and sustain; they do not give you permission to slam the opposite damage stat.

Nidalee

AP keeps her at range and turns attacks into javelins. AD turns her into a melee cougar that swipes and leaps after kills. Scout the opponent’s Nidalee items the same way you scout Yi. AP Nidalee is cooling in current samples; AD Yi is the Adaptor line that is actually placing. If you hit Nidalee with AP items and the lobby is full of Yi, you can still play her — you are not required to force Yi’s shop.

Kog’Maw and Gromp

Kog’Maw’s Caustic unique shreds and sunders. He is a reason Adaptor 2 is a splash on boards that need tank-shred, not only a Yi vertical. Gromp is an early holder you transfer off unless the reroll plan is actually Gromp, which it almost never is.

Rules that survive patches

1. Name the form before you slam the second item.
2. Scout Adaptor icons on opponents. Item direction is visible from across the board.
3. After September 1, if an Item Remover misbehaves, it is a remaining client bug, not a secret mechanic. Report it via official links.
4. Do not panic-pivot to Blossom Ahri because you found a rod. Check whether Yi still uses AP first.

Carousel still decides the form more often than your plan does. If you take a rod off carousel “for Ahri later” while Yi is already holding Guinsoo’s, you have just bricked the Adaptor. Take the component that finishes the live slam. Economy and Carousel is the same rule as every other Set 18 line.

August 31 also buffed Draven and Soraka. That does not make you an Executioner player by default. It means if Yi is contested you have somewhere else to go on the comp list. Adaptor 2 on Kog’Maw is glue. Yi 3-star is the commitment. If copies are gone, leave.
