Getting Started in TFT Enchanted Wilds

The Set 18 loop before you force a vertical.

Getting Started

TFT Enchanted Wilds is Teamfight Tactics Set 18, live on PC, iOS, and Android since August 26, 2026. You still draft 8-player lobbies, buy champions from a shared shop, and let the board fight automatically. What changed is the forest around that loop: Wisps occupy the rightmost shop slot, Carousel is back, and several traits grow plants, marks, or biomes on the hexes themselves.

If you skip fundamentals, Enchanted Wilds feels chaotic. If you learn the economy first, the comp tier list becomes a menu instead of a script. This page is that foundation.

The match in one paragraph

A game runs through PvE stages and player combats. You earn gold, keep interest at 10/20/30/40/50 gold, and spend on champions, rerolls, XP, and Wisps. Two-star units beat a pile of 1-stars. Traits fire at breakpoints. Items turn a carry into a win condition. After Stage 4 the lobby compresses, legendary shops appear, and a 4th place is already a ranked win. Enchanted Wilds does not replace that structure. It adds extra decisions inside the shop.

First hour checklist

  1. Play a normal game, not ranked, until you can name the seven Wisp colors.
  2. Slam a completed item by Stage 2 instead of holding three components for a dream slam.
  3. Leave at least 10 gold after a roll-down so interest or a Wisp is still possible.
  4. Scout one opponent every round: Wisp icon, Alpha Mark, Blackthorn hex, Avatar Lux origin.
  5. End the game by writing down why you took eighth — contested unit, zero gold, or a skipped Combat Wisp.

Pair that with how Wisps work and the item recipes. Do not start by 3-starring a random 1-cost.

Shop odds and leveling

Shop odds still climb with player level. Level 4 and 5 are 1-cost and 2-cost shops. Level 6 opens 3-costs. Level 7 is the reroll window for 3-costs. Level 8 is where 4-cost carries and most Fast 8 boards stabilize. Level 9 is legendary hunting. Enchanted Wilds adds a twist: a Wisp sits in the rightmost slot of every other shop, and after planning it vanishes to reveal the unit behind it. You still see that champion even if you skip the Wisp, which matters when you are one copy off a 2-star.

XP buys levels. Interest buys time. Rolling buys copies. The economy and Carousel guide explains when each lever is correct. The short version for Set 18: never roll to zero if a Combat Wisp is still sitting in the shop.

Positioning and scouting

Frontline tanks occupy the first two rows. Backline carries sit on edges or in corners against assassins. Enchanted Wilds makes positioning a trait: Elderwood plants take hexes, Ivern grows biomes, Sprykin rides the Big Furry Friend, and Blackthorn sacrifices whoever stands on a marked hex. If you only mirror a comp screenshot, a plant or Alpha Mark will be in the wrong place.

Scout with the player bar. After someone buys a Wisp, its category icon appears near Health. That tells you whether they just bought combat, economy, or a champion dump. Combine that with the trait tier list so you know which vertical they are actually playing.

Unreal Engine launch notes

Patch 18.1 is the first live set during TFT’s Unreal transition. Loading can take longer than Space Gods. The minimap was absent at launch. Friend spectating arrived later. None of that changes ranked math, but it does change how you practice: give the client time to load, keep graphics settings modest on older PCs, and treat mobile 2 GB devices as unsupported edge cases.

What to learn next

Once you can 2-star a board without going broke, pick a lane. Reroll players should read reroll versus Fast 8. Ranked grinders should open the ranked climb guide. Everyone should keep patch 18.1 nearby because Augment pools and Radiant numbers already moved on launch week.

Enchanted Wilds rewards flexible openers. Play what you hit, convert it into a named line from the tier list, and only force a vertical when an Augment or early 2-star makes that vertical cheap.
