Pick a tempo before you spend Stage 3 gold.

Reroll vs Fast 8

Every TFT Enchanted Wilds game asks the same Stage 3 question: do you roll for 3-stars, or do you race to 8 for 4-costs? Set 18 makes the question louder because Wisps reward players who stay in the shop and Fast 8 boards that can actually afford Stage 5 Combat orbs. If you mix the two plans, you get a 1.5-star board and an 8th.

Use this page as the tempo picker. Then lock a line from the comp tier list that matches that tempo.

What reroll means in Enchanted Wilds

Reroll boards stay at level 5, 6, or 7 and spend gold on shop rerolls until the carry is 3-star. Patch 18.1 examples:

  • Sprykin Veigar rolls at 5 around Veigar, Kobuko, and a Blackthorn sacrifice.
  • Defender Cassiopeia often rolls at 7 for Cassiopeia plus a Defender frontline.
  • Adaptor Master Yi rolls at 7 for Yi and a Blossom or Primal shell.
  • Riftbeast Krug rolls at 7 when Krug copies are open and an Alpha Mark is ready.
  • Solar Kayle can 3-star Kayle and Sejuani at 6, then look for unique 3-star milestones.

Reroll loves extra shops. Slow-rolling at 50 gold means you see more Wisps than a Fast 8 player who levels past the 2-cost odds. That is why how Wisps work matters more for reroll than it first appears: champion and item orbs can finish a 3-star, while a bad Risky Wisp can break the 50-gold hold.

What Fast 8 means

Fast 8 boards take a strong Stage 2, keep a streak or a stable loss, and buy XP to hit 8 around Stage 4-1 or 4-2. Then they roll for 4-cost carries. Patch 18.1 examples:

  • Invoker Ahri — Fast 8 into Ahri with Blossom or Invoker splashes.
  • Riftbeast Sentinel — standard tempo into Sentinel/Brambleback with an Alpha Mark.
  • Wispful Thinking / Blossom — Fast 8 around Ahri, Sett, Ashe, or Sivir if Wisps are feeding the vertical.

Fast 8 needs items ready for the 4-cost. If you arrive at 8 with two loose components, you are late. Slam using the item recipes on a temporary 2-cost, then transfer later only if the item still matches.

How to choose in Stage 2

Choose reroll when:

  • You already have two copies of a 1-cost or 2-cost carry plus matching items.
  • The lobby is not holding those copies.
  • An Opening Encounter or Augment gives extra rerolls.
  • You can play a 2-trait frontline that actually survives Stage 3.

Choose Fast 8 when:

  • Your opener is pairs of splash units, not a dedicated 1-cost.
  • You hit econ Augments, win streak, or a huge Carousel item.
  • The 4-cost you want is uncontested.
  • You can 2-star a board without rolling to 20 gold.

If you cannot decide, play strongest board until 3-2, then look at the shop. The economy and Carousel guide is the spend script; this page is only the tempo label.

Mixing tempos is how you bleed

Do not slow-roll at 6 and then suddenly buy 8 with 12 gold. Do not Fast 8 and then greed a 3-star 1-cost that collides with someone else’s Veigar. Enchanted Wilds 5-costs like Ivern, Maokai, Taric, Lux, and Elder Dragon are Fast 8/9 rewards. They are terrible reasons to abandon a 3-star Kayle that is already winning.

Scouting settles arguments. If two players are on Veigar, you are not the Veigar player. Pivot to the ranked climb rule: open copies, slammed items, 4th place.

Stage 5 exception

After Stage 5, Combat Wisps become common. Reroll boards that already 3-starred can spend leftover gold on those orbs to survive legendary opponents. Fast 8 boards should save gold for the same orbs plus a 5-cost. That is the one moment both tempos buy the same thing. Until then, pick one clock and keep it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.

What level do I roll at for Veigar?

Sprykin Veigar typically slow-rolls at 5 in patch 18.1. Confirm copies are open before you commit. See the comp tier list.

When do I level to 8?

Usually Stage 4-1 or 4-2 if you are Fast 8 with items and a 4-cost plan. Earlier is a greed streak; later is a panic.

Can Wisps replace rolling?

Sometimes Champion Wisps donate copies, but they are not a 3-star plan. You still need shop gold. Read how Wisps work.

Is Fast 9 a real plan?

Only from a huge streak or econ Augment. Most Enchanted Wilds games should 4th at 8, not 8th at 9.
