TFT Enchanted Wilds Positioning Guide
Hexes are part of the Set 18 power budget.
TFT Enchanted Wilds punishes copied screenshots because the set puts extra objects on the board. Elderwood plants take hexes. Blackthorn marks a sacrifice tile. Ivern grows biomes. Sprykin rides the Big Furry Friend. Eclipse executes after a timer. If you only mirror a comp tier list picture, a plant or Alpha Mark will be in the wrong place and your carry dies first.
This page is the layout layer. Pair it with getting started for the loop and the trait rankings for which engine you are actually playing.
Default front and back
Frontline still occupies the first two rows. Tanks such as Sett, Malphite, Maokai, Taric, Leona, and Rammus eat the first hits. Carries sit on edges or in corners against assassins and Ravagers. Enchanted Wilds adds a third job: leave empty hexes for plants, biomes, and the Blackthorn tile so those objects do not replace your 4-cost.
Do not clump every unit in the center. AoE from Kennen, Tristana, and Elder Dragon punishes blobs. Spread one hex if the opponent has a cleave; clump if they have a single-target execute you can bait onto a tank.
Elderwood is a positioning trait
At 3 Elderwood you place a Stonebark Tree and a Lifebloom. At 5 you get a second tree. At 7 the Deepwood Protector arrives. Plants occupy real hexes and stun or buff based on where they sit. Put the tree where it eats the first pathing, not on the carry corner. If an enemy assassin walks the same edge every fight, the plant belongs on that edge.
Plants also gain Health and Ability Power with Elderwood star level. A 9 or 11 Elderwood board is a forest. You will lose fights by covering the carry’s attack range. Read the trait list for stop-at-5 advice; this page is only about where the summons stand.
Blackthorn and the sacrifice hex
Blackthorn creates a marked hex. Whoever stands there is the sacrifice. A 3-star 1-cost often feeds more than a naked 4-cost. Do not accidentally park Ahri on that tile. Scout the opponent’s mark the same way you scout items: if their sacrifice is a 3-star Rek’Sai, their Blackthorn is real; if it is a leftover 1-star, they are still setting up.
Ivern biomes and two-slot dragons
Ivern’s Greenfather grows empowered hexes. Trees, rocks, water, flowers, and mushrooms buff whoever stands on them. The God-Willow is the last plant and sits toward the center. Place Ivern so his seeds cover the units that need the buff, not empty grass. Elder Dragon takes two team slots. Leave two adjacent hexes or you will sell a unit you still needed. Apex Predator is not a casual splash — see the champion rankings.
Eclipse clocks
Three Solar plus three Lunar starts an execute after 10 seconds, repeating every 3.5 seconds in patch 18.1. Long fights become executions. If you are the Eclipse board, stall: more tanks, more healing, fewer all-ins on 4-second games. If you are playing against it, burst the backline before 10 seconds or you will leak units to the hidden trait. Avatar Lux can be the third Solar or Lunar. Scout her Origin before you decide the fight is safe.
Scouting layouts, not only items
Every round glance at: Wisp icon by Health, Alpha Mark target, Blackthorn hex, Elderwood plants, Ivern terrain, Sprykin Rider, and Lux Origin. That is slower than checking Infinity Edge, and it wins more Set 18 games. The Wisp guide covers the shop half of scouting; this page is the board half.
If a layout is too greedy, fall back to slammed items from the item recipes and a 4th-place board from the ranked climb rules. Positioning is a multiplier on a real composition, not a replacement for 2-stars.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.
Where do Elderwood plants go?
On the first collision path, not on your carry corner. Trees should tank or stun, not block your 4-cost's range.
How do I not sacrifice the wrong unit to Blackthorn?
Look at the marked hex before combat. Park a cheap 3-star there. Never leave Ahri, Ashe, or Veigar on it by habit.
When does Eclipse kill?
After 10 seconds of combat in patch 18.1, then every 3.5 seconds. Burst before the timer or stall if you own the trait.
Does this replace a comp guide?
No. Pick a line from the comp tier list, then use this page to place the extra Set 18 objects.
