Ranked Climb

Ranked in TFT Enchanted Wilds is still an 8-player online ladder. A 4th place gains LP. An 8th dumps it. Set 18 makes that math louder because Wisps, plants, and unique 5-costs create huge high-rolls — and equally huge greed. If you force Invoker Ahri into three other Ahri players, the comp tier list will not save you.

This guide is about placements, not flashy boards. Use it with the getting started guide if fundamentals are still leaking, and with reroll versus Fast 8 when you cannot decide how to spend Stage 3.

Play for 4th until the lobby is weak

A stable 2-star board with slammed items beats a 1-star legendary dream. Enchanted Wilds tempts you with Circle of Elders, Inferno ignited shops, and Elder Dragon. Those outs exist. They are not the default. In patch 18.1 the S-tier lines — Invoker Ahri, Riftbeast, Defender Cassiopeia, Sprykin Veigar, Adaptor Master Yi — already have defined tempos. Learn one Fast 8 and one reroll so you can pivot when your opener is taken.

Health is the ranked resource. Coven can convert losses into Essence, but only if you still have enough HP to cash out. Everyone else should treat 20 HP as the line where Combat Wisps from how Wisps work become mandatory.

Contesting is the hidden skill

Before you lock a vertical, count copies. If two players already hold Ahri and Sett, Blossom is expensive. If Krug and Sentinel are open, Riftbeast is free LP. Scout Alpha Marks and Sprykin Riders; those tell you which engine is actually live. The champion rankings list which 4-costs and 5-costs are worth pivoting toward when your first line dies.

Carousel is a ranked tool. Taking the contested 4-cost off Carousel is often better than taking your third belt. Details live in the economy and Carousel guide.

Ladder snapshots and competitive dates

Enchanted Wilds has a full competitive season on competetft.com. Ladder Snapshots hit selected Tuesdays at 9pm local region time and award Ranked Ladder Points to the top 30 in AMER, EMEA, and APAC. Snapshot dates announced at set launch were September 8, 15, 22 and October 6, 13. If you are pushing for Regional Finals, those days are the ones that matter more than a random Friday night.

Tactician’s Trials, Regional Finals, Tactician’s Superbrawl, and Tactician’s Crown sit above the ladder. You do not need them to climb to Challenger, but you should know they exist so you do not schedule a 12-hour grind over a snapshot you care about. Official event pages are collected under links.

Patch 18.1 climbing habits

  • Slam items. Holding three components for a Radiant is how you take 6th.
  • Keep 10 gold after a roll-down so a Combat Wisp is still affordable.
  • Do not greed Prismatic Blossom or Riftbeast 10 unless the board is already winning.
  • Know Eclipse: 3 Solar plus 3 Lunar executes after 10 seconds. Those boards win long fights.
  • Watch Avatar Lux Origins. The wrong Lux is a wasted 5-cost; the right one completes a vertical. See the trait tier list.
  • Review patch 18.1 after each balance drop so you are not playing last week’s Veigar.

Mental rules that actually raise LP

Stop after two 8ths and play a normal game to reset. One forced vertical into a full lobby is not unlucky, it is a contest. Mute the after-game screen until you can name the round you died — usually Stage 3 with no 2-stars. Then queue again with a different opener.

Enchanted Wilds will get a mid-set patch. The climb advice that survives patches is boring on purpose: strongest board, open line, slammed items, gold for the next Wisp. Flashy 1sts are a bonus when the lobby lets you cap.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.

What placement gains LP in Enchanted Wilds?

Fourth or better is the default win. First is nice; avoiding 7th and 8th is how most ranks actually move.

Should I force the S-tier comp every game?

No. Force it when the copies are open. Otherwise play strongest board into a less contested line from the comp tier list.

Do ladder snapshots matter for normal ranked?

Only if you want competitive qualification. Casual climbing can ignore them and still use the same Health and contest rules.

Is Double Up the same as ranked?

No. Double Up is a separate online pair mode. Ranked LP comes from 8-player Enchanted Wilds lobbies.
