TFT Enchanted Wilds How Eclipse Works
The hidden Solar + Lunar execute, not a sixth random vertical.
Eclipse is not a trait you pick in the shop. It is a hidden payoff that turns on when you field three Solar and three Lunar champions. In patch 18.1, after 10 seconds of combat, Eclipse kills the lowest-Health enemy, then repeats every 3.5 seconds. Long fights become executions. Short burst fights ignore it.
That is why Solar Kayle is an A-tier specialist after August 31 and why you do not force six random “celestial” units. Play Solar or Lunar first. Add the other Origin when the execute actually helps. Pair this with the comp list and positioning for stall versus burst.
Who is Solar and Lunar
Solar: Leona, Kayle, Sejuani, and Avatar Lux. Solar shields and deals bonus magic damage, with extra rewards for unique 3-star champions. That unique-3-star clause is why Kayle reroll exists.
Lunar: Diana, Aphelios, Alune, and Avatar Lux. Lunar grants Attack Speed and Ability Power to Lunar units and adjacent allies. Alune’s Attuned unique also oscillates team Durability and Damage Amp as her moon phase changes.
Lux can represent either Origin and counts twice. Holding one Avatar Lux locks later shop copies to that Origin in patch 18.1. If you need Lunar 3 and you bought Solar Lux, you are stuck unless you plan around it. Live laser bonuses: Lunar applies Vulnerable (amp was 10% → 8% on August 31). Solar deals bonus damage per unique 3-star. Legendaries.
How to turn it on without bricking the board
Default: 3 Solar (Leona, Kayle, Sejuani) plus 3 Lunar (Diana, Aphelios, Alune) is six slots. That is a lot. Shortcuts:
- Avatar Lux as the third of either Origin (counts two).
- Emblems that add Solar or Lunar onto a unit you already play.
- Fast 8/9 boards that already have Kayle or Aphelios and can spare two more slots.
If you cannot name which six units make 3+3, you are not playing Eclipse. You are playing a screenshot.
When the execute wins
Stall. More tanks, more healing, fewer all-ins that end at 8 seconds. Eclipse is a long-fight trait. If you are the Eclipse board, clump less into Kennen and let the timer work. If you are playing against it, burst the backline before 10 seconds or you leak units to the hidden trait. Scout Lux Origin and the Solar/Lunar counts the same way you scout Alpha Marks.
Solar Kayle (Portable Forge / unique 3-stars) is the current specialist A-tier from Academy after the mid-patch. It is not a default opener. You need the 3-star engine and a path to Lunar 3. Lunar Aphelios boards can also reach Eclipse without Kayle if Lux or Diana fill the count.
What Eclipse is not
It is not a reason to hold four 5-costs. It is not a Coven cashout. It is not Blossom 11. If Veigar or Riftbeast Sentinel is open, those comp lines 4th more often than a 6-celestial greed with no 2-stars.
August 31 also cut Lux’s Lunar amp. The execute timer did not change. Confirm 10s / 3.5s on the client tooltip if a later patch moves it. 18.2 is still not live.
Adjacency matters on Lunar: the Attack Speed / AP splash wants Lunar units next to the carries that should receive it. Solar cares less about hex neighbors and more about unique 3-stars. If you clump for Lunar and then eat a Kennen, you have paid Eclipse’s timer with your own Health. Spread one hex against AOE; clump against a single-target execute you can bait onto Leona or Sejuani. Positioning is the same hex budget as Elderwood plants — Eclipse just uses the clock instead of a tree.
Common mistakes
Buying the first Lux without checking Origin. Fielding 2 Solar and 3 Lunar and wondering why nobody dies at 10 seconds. Playing Eclipse into a burst lobby that ends fights in 6 seconds. Itemizing Kayle as Rapidfire while your Lunar units have no adjacency. Ignoring Combat Wisps because “the execute will save me” — it will not if you are already at 8 HP on Stage 4. Wisps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.
How do I activate Eclipse?
Field three Solar and three Lunar. Lux can be either Origin and counts twice. First execute at 10 seconds, then every 3.5 seconds in patch 18.1.
Is Eclipse a full composition?
No. It is a hidden cap on Solar or Lunar boards. Do not force six random celestial units.
Should I play Solar Kayle every game?
No. It is a specialist A-tier when unique 3-stars and Lunar 3 are actually available.
Did August 31 change the timer?
No. It cut Lux's Lunar damage amp 10% → 8%. The 10s / 3.5s execute is unchanged.
