Burn the board, then ignite shops for higher-cost units.

Inferno Guide

Inferno is the Enchanted Wilds origin that Burns and Wounds in combat and, from breakpoint 3, ignites shop slots so they roll a champion one cost higher. That second job is why you splash 3 even when you are not a Kennen player. Burn still stacks with Sunfire or Morellonomicon — activating Inferno does not make those items dead.

Use this with item recipes and the comp list. Numbers are patch 18.1d after August 31. Amumu’s mana and heal went up; Kennen remains the Executioner cap. 18.2 is September 10 and not live.

Who is Inferno

Akali, Varus, Shen, Amumu, Kennen, and Avatar Lux.

You do not need Kennen to play 3 Inferno. The ignited shop is the splash. Kennen and Amumu are why Fast 8/9 Inferno boards exist after the mid-patch.

Breakpoints

  • 2 Inferno: Burn. Pressure healing-heavy boards. Fine as a pair.
  • 3 Inferno: after combat, one non-Inferno shop slot ignites and rolls a champion one cost higher. This is the engine. Take it when you already own three copies.
  • 5 Inferno: two ignited slots, more Burn. Destination when shops are paying.
  • 7 Inferno: four ignited slots, more Burn. Prismatic greed. Stop unless the board is already winning.

Burn deals a percent of max Health as true damage over time. Wound cuts healing. If the lobby is full of Gunblade Kayle or omnivamp fighters, 2 Inferno is already a combat trait. If you need 4-costs early, 3 Inferno is a shop trait.

How to use ignited shops

The ignited slot is not a Wisp. It is a shop cell that rolls up a tier. Do not roll to zero and miss it. Leave gold the same way how Wisps work teaches you to leave gold for Combat orbs. If you are hunting 4-costs at 7, an ignited slot that shows Amumu or a 5-cost is the reason you took 3 Inferno instead of another origin pair.

August 31 buffed Amumu (faster casts, more heal) because he was weak at launch. If you hit him from an ignited shop, slam Gargoyle or Warmog and stop looking for a “real” 4-cost tank.

Lines

Splash 3. Akali / Varus / Shen plus whatever Fast 8 you are actually playing. The ignited shop finds your 4-cost. This is the default.

Kennen Fast 8/9. Inferno + Executioner. Kennen wants Burned enemies. Cap with items from the Executioner recipes. Draven Fast 9 on the comp list often splashes Inferno 2 for the same reason.

Amumu front. After the buff, he is a reason to stay Inferno rather than pivoting off a 4-cost you already 2-starred.

Avatar Lux as Inferno restores mana on takedown in live 18.1. Buy her when she completes 5, not because the laser is on fire. Legendaries.

Common mistakes

Forcing 7 Inferno with 1-star Varus. Ignoring ignited slots while rolling for a Wisp. Assuming Burn replaces Red Buff — they stack. Itemizing Akali as Adaptor AP while the rest of the board is AD Hunter. Parking Kennen on a Blackthorn hex.

If beasts or Veigar are open, those comp lines still 4th more often than a naked 7 Inferno. Take the shop splash, slam the tank, and leave.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.

Does Inferno Burn stack with Sunfire?

Yes. Inferno Burn/Wound does not suppress other burn items. Slam Sunfire if the tank wants it.

When do shops ignite?

From Inferno 3: after combat, a non-Inferno shop slot rolls one cost higher. 5 and 7 ignite more slots.

Is Kennen required?

No. He is the 5-cost closer. Splash 3 Inferno for shops even if you never see him.

Did Amumu get better?

Yes. August 31 lowered his mana and raised his heal. See patch 18.1.
