Fae Guide

Fae is the Enchanted Wilds origin that spawns Pix allies from dead units, then converts those Pix into gold through Golden Pixies. It is a gold-generation engine disguised as a stat origin. If you treat it like a heal-and-shield splash, you will miss the real power: the Pix population grows every fight, and Golden Pixies at 4 Fae turn that population into spendable income.

Use this page with the comp tier list for Lillia and Tristana boards, and with positioning because Pix occupy real hexes. Numbers below are patch 18.1. Patch 18.2 is September 10 and not live yet.

Who is Fae

Rakan, Xayah, Lillia, Tristana, and Fiddlesticks. That is the whole origin. You do not need all five. You need a combat backbone that keeps Pix spawning, a way to reach 4 Fae for the Golden Pixies payout, and ideally a carry who benefits from the extra gold generated by the engine.

2XayahElderwood / Fae / Rapidfire opener
3LilliaFae / Defender carry, the roll-7 core
3TristanaFae / Sprykin / Hunter carry

Lillia and Tristana are the Fae carries. Rakan is the early frontline. Xayah is the Rapidfire bridge that also holds Elderwood. Fiddlesticks brings the Flora Fatalis splash and Spellweaver access.

How Fae actually works

When an enemy champion dies, a Pix spawns on the board. At 2 Fae, those Pix are smallstat allies. At 4 Fae, after each combat round, all surviving Pix convert into Golden Pixies that pay gold directly. The payout scales with the number of Pix on the board.

That means Fae is not a combat trait. It is an economy trait. Your board needs to win fights — or at least trade evenly — so that Pix keep spawning. A board that loses badly will have fewer Pix because fewer enemies die.

Breakpoints that actually change the game

  • 2 Fae: Pix spawn when enemies die. This is the splash. Take it whenever you already own two copies and still want the gold engine.
  • 4 Fae: Golden Pixies convert surviving Pix into gold after each round. This is the real engine. Stop here unless the next two units are free.
  • 6 Fae: every third Pix is a Golden Pixie during combat. This is a minor combat boost, not a reason to greed past 4.
  • 8+: Prismatic overflow. Highlight boards, not average lobbies.

The stop-at-4 rule is the same lesson as the trait tier list. A 4 Fae board with 2-star Lillia and Tristana plus a tank beats an 8-piece forest with naked 1-stars.

Two ways to play it

Fae Lillia (roll 7). Stabilize Stage 2 on Rakan and Xayah. Hit 7. Roll for 3-star Lillia and 3-star Tristana. Itemize Lillia with AP recipes from the item recipes. Fiddlesticks holds Flora Fatalis items. Splash Defender or Spellweaver if those copies are open. Golden Pixies fund the roll-down.

Fae Hunter Tristana (Fast 8). Play Tristana as the Fast 8 physical carry with Hunter items: Infinity Edge, Last Whisper, or Giant Slayer. Golden Pixies at 4 Fae fund the transition to 8. This line needs the 4 Fae breakpoint to work; without it the gold engine does not pay out.

Both lines still buy Combat Wisps from how Wisps work. Pix boards are not immune to bleeding Health. A Combat Wisp that wins one fight keeps the Pix spawning.

Positioning and Pix placement

Pix occupy real hexes. They spawn where enemies die, which means they can appear anywhere on the board. This creates positioning pressure: if a Pix spawns on your carry’s hex, the carry is temporarily displaced.

For Lillia, place her in the center of the backline so that enemies dying around her keep Pix close. For Tristana, the corner is still correct against assassins, but watch for Pix displacing her in late fights.

If Fiddlesticks is on the board, his Flora Fatalis plants also occupy hexes. Stack Fae and Flora on the same fight plan, not two different positioning theories.

Common Fae mistakes

Treating Fae as a combat trait instead of a gold engine. Forcing 6 or 8 when 4 Fae plus a carry from the champion list is stronger. Ignoring the Wisp rules because “Pix are already free units.” Forcing both Lillia and Tristana as carries when one is naked. Playing Fae into a lobby with heavy AoE that kills Pix before they can convert.

If Fae is contested, leave. Riftbeast and Sprykin on the comp list give you somewhere else to go. Fae is a gold generation engine; it does not win fights by itself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Enchanted Wilds players.

How does Fae generate gold?

At 4 Fae, surviving Pix convert into Golden Pixies after each combat round and pay gold. The payout scales with the number of Pix.

Is Fae a combat trait?

No. It is a gold engine. Pix are stat福利; Golden Pixies are the payout. Your board still needs to win fights to keep Pix spawning.

Should I always go to 6 or 8 Fae?

No. 4 Fae is the real breakpoint. 6 Fae is a minor combat boost. 8 is Prismatic overflow.

Who is the Fae carry?

Lillia for AP reroll at 7, Tristana for Fast 8 Hunter. Both work; pick based on copies and lobby.
